Almost!

Just a quick update----we're headed to the hospital!!!! My water broke about 3:30 and my contractions are not super close, but Dr. says we need to go ahead in. Look for pictures soon. Sorry family for not calling everyone-there's so many calls to make and so little time and it's still quite early for some of you. Thanks for all your prayers! :)

Good-bye Due Date

Well....still no baby. Sorry to disappoint! I can honestly say that I thought I'd be fast asleep by now. Jake wanted to start watching a third show tonight at 10:00 but I requested that we just watch some of the news and go to sleep. He agreed and now he's out cold. This whole pregnancy induced insomnia thing is just not fun. I walked probably 2 miles today hoping to kick start this labor-I figured if I didn't go into labor because of it at least I'd sleep well tonight. Wrong! So here I am, just finished with my second bowl of Fruity Pebbles, having zero contractions, and looking for something to do to make it easier for me to sleep. I must say I am looking forward to seeing what my little baby widget will say as I get further and further past my due date. Today it says "It's go time." Ya think? I am really quite sure this baby will not be born on her due date-it's 11:20 and it take a little over half an hour to get to the hospital. I guess I'll even be so bold as to say I hope she isn't born today. There's always tomorrow, right?

No Baby Baby Update

Well....still no baby, but here are some updates for all of you curious minds:

As of last Thursday I am now to a 4 and 50% effaced

Jake finally agreed on the name Leah. Hooray! Our baby finally has a name! :)

If I don't go into labor on my own I will be induced on Friday (yes, Friday the 13th-good thing I'm not the least bit superstitious)

I have been feeling contractions, but that's nothing new. Although this afternoon I told Jake I felt like I was a walking contraction because I just hurt. It was weird.

I vacuumed the house and cleaned the bathroom so Jake says I'm nesting-maybe, maybe not.

That pretty much does it for now. Hopefully my next post will include pictures of baby Leah!

(Feel free to pray that I go into labor on my own-I only agreed to be induced because Jake has finals next week.)

And since a pos
t is so much better with pictures, here's one of Isaac's belly and my 40 week belly. Enjoy!

Just something to compare to...

Several people have been asking me about my labor and delivery with Isaac. Just thought I'd post a few details and pictures (of Isaac as a newborn....not of my delivery!!!) to satisfy anyone else curious and so we'd all have something to compare to with this next baby. So, here we go...

1. I did not go into labor early with Isaac-I was induced a day after my due date.

2. I was in labor for about 8 hours, pushed for half an hour.

3. I did not have an epidural. (Same plan this time around)

4. I was to a 3 a week before my due date with Isaac.

5. Isaac was 6 pounds, 11 ounces and 20 inches long.

6. He had lots of DARK hair-crazy to think of that considering his blond head now!

7. I delivered at Methodist and will do the same this time.

That's pretty much all I can think of from what people have already asked me. If you're curious about something else-just ask! And here's a few pictures of our little guy right after he was born.

Warning!!! This post may be TMI for some....

I had a doctor's appointment today and since I am less than 2 weeks from my due date, he checked to see if I was dilated at all. I figured I might be to a 1, possibly a 2 considering the contractions I've been having the last few weeks. With Isaac, I was to a 1 1/2 at this point and a 3 a week before my due date. Well, he checked me and then asked if it was alright if his med student checked as well-I figured I was surely somewhat dilated otherwise he wouldn't have her even try. She tried, but was unsuccessful at coming to a conclusive number. Then he told me I was to a 3 1/2. Holy cow! I really was not expecting that. Funny thing is he said something about going home and telling everyone on Facebook about this. LOL....Facebook is a little too public for this I think so for the 6 of you who actually read my blog, now you know! :) While this isn't any guarantee that I'll go into labor before my due date, it does guarantee less labor time. Woohoo! With Isaac I went from a 6 to a 9 1/2 in 45 minutes. So I'm hoping to get to a 5 before I go into labor and only have a short experience being in labor at the hospital. As for a name update, I have decided on Leah, Jake still has not. Guess he might have to decide sooner than we thought!

Ahh...that explains it

On Thursday night Isaac started running a fever. It finally went away Sunday night. He's also been incredibly moody, throwing tantrums over the smallest, sometimes unknown things. Usually, we know what upsets him and can deal with the howling and rolling all over the floor a little easier. This morning he woke up with a rash all over his little body. Ah Ha! He has roseola (a mild little sickness caused by a virus that causes a fever for several days, moodiness, and then a rash for short period of time). I was glad to hear there was a reason for his constant crankiness and that he wasn't just suddenly an angry child-especially because I started to wonder how I was going to take care of a newborn and a screaming toddler at the same time. (Yes, I know there will be times when he's totally healthy and still throws several tantrums a day). Thankfully, he was rather well behaved while I ran a few errands today and is now peacefully sleeping. I suppose I should go use this time to do something useful. I think I'm too tired for my nesting instinct to kick in today so I better clean and organize without it...

January Happenings

It's been a pretty low-key month for us. Nothing major going on-just counting down days until baby girl is born (nope, still no decision for sure on the name!). I've been sewing like crazy during Isaac's naptimes and have made a lot of progress. The blessing gown is done-yes, I even cut off a piece of my wedding dress to put in. I'll take a picture soon-or maybe wait until she's blessed and wearing it to post the pictures. I've also made a couple blankets, a sling, a bath towel with a little hood, and the curtains and bedskirt for the nursery. There's still some things I need to get for the nursery before it's totally finished. Hopefully those purchases/projects will be done this week.
One of Isaac's new favorite things to do is sit at the computer-even if there's nothing really to look at. He also likes to push the buttons on the printer and stuf pens, post-it notes, memory cards, or whatever else he can find in the desk into the printer where the paper is. We took him to a Drake basketball game a couple weeks ago. He didn't like it as much as we were expecting. He liked the game and the blimp they flew around-the noise of the crowd was just a little much at times. He did last until halfway through the second half and then we headed home. He rarely goes a day without wearing a onesie so he was quite excited this day to not have one on so he could easily locate his belly button. Even though every child goes through the "fasinated by belly botton" stage, it's still so cute when it's your own kid. Unfortunately Isaac is sick right now with some mysterious illness. It's just a fever and constant sleepiness/crankiness. We're going on day 4 and hopefully it goes away soon-not only so he can be his happy, crazy little self but because I'm having a baby any time now and things will be crazy enough with a newborn and a healthy toddler-let alone a sicky toddler!
