Daytona and Beyond...
The day after Isaac's birthday we left for Florida with my family. We flew into Orlando and drove to Daytona Beach where my parents had rented a house. We spent lots of time just laying on the beach and playing in the waves-it was so great to be back in the ocean. One day we went to Downtown Disney (the only part of Disney we could afford-it was free!). Despite our efforts to buy Isaac some great souvenir, he chose (really, he wasn't interested in anything else) a $1.50 tin of candy (that I ate) and a $3 Mickey shovel. Dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe was great. Thankfully, Isaac enjoyed the realistic animals and thunderstorms and was not terrified of it all. We also spent a few hours at the Daytona Raceway. It was warm that day, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Happy First (and Belated!) Birthday, Isaac!
While we celebrated Isaac's birthday on time, I am obviously a few weeks late posting about it. (See following posts for explanation in my lack of blogging...) We had a party for him at Jake's parents' house with just (all 40 of us!) family. We did a little swimming, some eating, and even a pinata! Isaac seemed to really have a good time-especially once he got his first ice cream! I was so excited because he never ate anything with a spoon-never ate rice cereal, baby food-nothing...until he tried that ice cream. He couldn't get enough of it. I thought-yay! Maybe now he'll start eating applesauce and mashed potatoes. How wrong I was-he will still eat ONLY ice cream from a spoon.

Blood and Bugs
So...Isaac and I were awake for a total of 15 minutes this morning when we had two little interesting experiences. The first:
I know this hardly looks like a bad experience, but this was the result and not the issue itself. I keep most of Isaac's toys out in the living room in this table thing that has two drawers. Well, I opened one up (right after I cleaned up his ear) and there was a ROACH!!!! At least that's what it looked liked. It was alive and so nasty looking. I immediately took everything out because even though the bug freaked me out, I was more freaked out by the idea of it living amongst my son's toys that he puts in his mouth. I was going to find it and KILL it. And I did. I decided not to take a picture of it-I didn't want it in my house any longer than it already was. It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much, but Jake and I have started watching a show on Discovery called Verminators and there's always a part about a house or apartment overrun by roaches. Eww!

Awesome April
Isaac had spaghetti for the first time this month and he LOVED it! (Notice the "thumbs up." No, he really doesn't give thumbs up, but it sure makes the memory that much better). At around this time we learned that his favorite food is meat-chicken, porl, beef-anything that was once walking around, he chows down on it. He especially likes meat that is flavored (taco meat, sausage, etc.). He also really likes most veggies-if only I could get him to eat a stinking banana. I know, I know-most parents would give anything for their kids to eat meat and veggies and cut back on the sweet foods. I guess he just didn't inherit his mother's sweet tooth.

Early addings....
Jake had to work out of town today so he got up at 5:00. Unfortunately, I also have been awake since then. I laid in bed for about an hour and finally gave up. I tell Jake I have insomnia, but I don't really-it just takes me FOREVER to get to sleep sometimes. It's really some sort of sick joke-for a mother of a child who wakes up several times a night to occasionally suffer from not being able to sleep. Oh well...there's plenty to do so why waste time sleeping, right? So I figured I'd get up and do something "productive" and work on my blog. I've added a bunch of people to my links list-if you're one of those people and see your name and wonder, " How did this girl get my blog address?!?!" don't worry-I just found it on someone else's blog. I was hesitant for a long time to add people who didn't know that I had their blog address because I didn't want them to get freaked out-but then I think I'm not freaked out when people I know look at my blog and I don't really know they have my blog address. So anyways...this is what I've been doing for the last 45 minutes. I suppose I'll go do another post from the laptop since that's where the pictures are-and since the pictures are the important part of any post.
